A Study of Josamycin in the Gynecological Field

Abstract
A new macrolide antibiotic, Josamycin(JM) was administered to patient with various gynecological infections, and an evaluation of it`s clinical effects is as follows : 1) In the sensitivity test of JM, strains of staphylococcus aureus were observed to inhibit growth in the MIC of JM 0.8mcg/ml to 1.6mcg/ml (91.6%). we also tested strains of staphylococcus albus in 1.6mcg/ml (75%) of the MIC of JM and growth also inhibited. Our result was that growth was inhibited in 19 (80%) of the 24 strains which were isolated. 2) In the 39 cases of gynecological infections such as pelvic inflammatory disease(PID), adnexitis, endometritis (& myometritis, perimetritis), a puerperal infection and cervicitis etc, JM was effective in 86% of all therapy. 3) In 11 cases evaluation and curettage due to missed abortion, incomplete abortion and endometrial hyperplasia were performed. JM was administered for prevevtion of postabortal infection. There were no cases of infectionary of the above cases even a week after therapy. 4) No signigicant side effects were observed but one case of mild skin eruption did occur.
